The Origins of WH Kemp

WH Kemp was founded in 1967 by Wilfred H Kemp, in Bath.

This family-run organisation was primarily set-up to supply electrical Cable Harnesses to three companies in the petrochemical sector.

One of those companies is now a FTSE 100 listed global engineering giant and remains a loyal customer.

From Strength to Strength

In the first decade of trade WH Kemp’s reputation was cemented as a manufacturer of reliable, high quality Wiring Looms and Cable Harnesses.

The customer base expanded with an influx of industrial engineering and electrical customers.

Expansion and Relocation

In the 1980s WH Kemp kept expanding due to their rapidly growing customer base.

We relocated twice, the first time to larger premises in Bradford-on-Avon and then in the 1990s to a purpose built Cable Harness factory near Melksham.

Modern, purpose-built manufacturing site

In 2005 WH Kemp designed and relocated to its current headquarters, with a 25,000 sq.ft. purpose-built factory in Westbury, Wiltshire. The building has a large open plan layout which facilitates the manufacture of very large cable looms in addition to enabling a suitable layout for the efficient manufacture of an assortment of cable assemblies, control box and panel builds.

Building on over 50 years’ experience we continue to manufacture Cable Harnesses, Wire Looms, Panel and Box Builds for a diverse range of customers: from high-tech national SMEs, to global organisations.
